The Author • Duncan Catchpole
Duncan’s lifetime of experience with sustainable food began with his upbringing on an organic apple orchard in Suffolk.
In 1998 he founded the Cambridge Organic Food Company (COFCO), which was set up on a shoestring budget. Today, COFCO delivers organic veg boxes to more than a thousand local households every week, and has grown into a seven-figure-turnover enterprise. This was achieved while upholding strong ethical principles throughout.
Duncan is a founding committee member of Cambridge Sustainable Food, the organisation responsible for Cambridge’s inclusion in the ‘Sustainable Food Places’ network, this role led him to begin the Cambridge Food Hub project, which subsequently led to the development of the Local Food Ecosystem concept.
